Sexy Etsy

psarokokalo
- "tit pincushion" $10

Abitabite
- "The prick cushion" $17
"Each Prick Cushion is handmade for you, and has it's own unique look and personality... just like the real mccoy!" (she said it, not me.)

Yeah, Etsy really has everything! The woman who makes the prick cushions also sells handmade uteruses! Yuck, imagine if these were the 'real' thing. yuck yuck yuckkkkkkk. A little bit of the sadist, a lot of tongue in cheek humor. Reminds me of Venus in Furs but reversed (more of the sadistical). I need to buy that book! Also, still really intrigued about Story of O though my phase of wanting to read sexually deviant books has kind of passed. I've satisfied my need to be a rebel of convention with Story of the Eye, hehe. If you're under 15, please ignore these thinly veiled book recommendations completely.

I applied to Trader Joe's with my sister for a part time job this summer. I don't know if Trader Joe's extends outside of the US, so for those of you who don't know what it is, it's supposed to be an 'unconventional' grocery store with a more lax atmosphere, mostly organic products, and MUCH smaller than your typical supermarket. I had really really hoped to avoid retail type jobs BUT ... haven't heard back from the places I applied to (sadface) soooooo I guess this will have to do! It's not 100% guaranteed that both me and my sister will get this job, but it's highly likely since they need people to work nights (til 1am!) and weekends.

Hi! I think I look like Charlie Chaplin here. No??? Flattering myself??? Need a sharpie drawn mustache? No, not sharpie. Human hair! oh speaking of hair, I cut mine a few days ago. The back is majorly shorter. I've always been scared to cut the back because well, it's in the back, you can't see it, hence, easier to make mistakes... but I was in the mood for a bold change in my life, so I did it! I just grabbed clumps of hair and sawed away at it and it turned out good! The side - profile view is a little too rounded (frown) but oh well, we can't be perfect now!

It's annoying how whenever I want change in my life, instead of working on something that might possibly bring drastic long term change, like say, working on my personal statement for the grad school application, I settle for something that only brings (instant) short term change - ie: changing my appearance. That's gotta change.

Just for my own curiousity, I'm going to search Etsy with the term 'sexy' ...

oh bother. I see you've even infected the Etsy-sphere. Begone!

Norwegian wood is still checked out from the library, so I got 2 books about Communist China (The Long March, The Rape of Nanking), a bio of Beatrix Potter (boring so far), and The Chosen by Chaim Potok (Very good! I want to check out Davita's Harp next.)

Beatrix Potter is an amazing woman from what I read on wikipedia ... but this biography is so dull. It's flowery and la dee dah and yes I get it that she had a rich and privileged childhood already, can we move on to her actual person???

I'm holding off on the Rape of Nanking because I can tell it's going to uberly depress me and put me in a morbid mindset as in, oh woe is humanity! What is the point of Life??? so yeah, waiting till I'm in a really good mood to read that. That sounds odd. I'm going to wait till I'm happy and cheery to read a book about the senseless killings and torture of human beings???

beep beep boo bop* (See bottom for translation)

Hey y'all, thanks for the awesome positive feedback on those vector illustrations. Motivates me even more to learn it over the summer so that y'all'll say I'm creative and cool too. ;)
My boyfriend's at a 'Poetry Night' and my sister spent her day cutting out underwear patterns. I feel like a boring Jane because my night consisted of making dinner for the parents (Mung beans, carrots, and celery!). Woo. *Twirls finger limply in air*

I'm really really into this Etsy seller - Ruffeo Hearts Lil' Snotty. I first heard about them on Fred Flare, then discovered they were on Etsy too. Or was it the other way around?
No matter, this was maybe a year or so ago. I "forgot" about them because as cool as their designs are, they're outta my price range. Why make oneself sad by repeatedly looking at something one can't afford? Oh right, for inspirational purposes.

Turtle, turtle

I was recently doing a bit of Etsy surfing. One link led to another and I found myself back on RHLS's page. Discovered they are looking for summer interns. I told my sister, we both applied, and she got it! (That little exclamation mark contains more than excitement ya know. Also a bit of jealousy and depression mixed in thurr.)

I so admire people who can make a decent living off of their Etsy store/creativity. Seems way better than working for almost any company that's out there.

Oh, exciting news of the day, Etsy followed me back on Twitter! Yayyyyyyyy. I'd like to think this is slightly meaningful even though they are following like 24,246 people.

*beep beep boo bop = There is nothing better than feeling a plastic baggy while eating vanilla soft serve ice cream and crunchy tacos.

This is Craig. I ordered a shirt from him recently.

okay, so this last one isn't a vector drawing ( GIMP editing rather).
It's Blyyyyythe with a cat on her head??? Those dolls kinda creep me out.

These weren't done by me! They are by Diana. However, I will be learning over the summer so look foward to my future creations. ;)

My nervous system is jumping around like mad (FROM COFFEE)

Even though I had a busy, event packed weekend, I don't feel like writing about it. You'd think after seeing a band at the peak of their epicness in Hipsterland (aka Williamsburg), going to two art museums, and scoring 2 rad tees and knit accessories, I'd feel sufficiently cool to blog about my awesome life. But I don't feel like talking about it at all. I just want to shut up and NOT join the throng of voices out there. Ever feel that way?

Yeahhhh I know.

Her dress reminds me of the Warholian banana, maybe a macro shot of it. Her mantle - a deconstructed rubix cube and all that it represents. Geometric accessories are just plain awesome. And the headband is totally something the Cocorosie sisters would wear.

Opine away but don't pine away *chuckle chuckle*

oh my, is that what I think it is?

yes, it is a pink hot dog!

Too funny guys. Too funny. I got the urge to go read some feminist blogs again, and talk about positive reinforcement. Feminist Philosophers had a post about Vagina Wear. Just what I wanted! Fashion and feminism! Together! Although this is a little too obvious for me. It's humor of the Superbad variety. I prefer a more subtle influence thank you very much. And why are they so pink. hm. Couldn't they have gone for a more realistic flesh tone like ... light beige or pastel peach? That's it, I've found my life's calling. Design ethnic-friendly, classy and subtle, Vagina gowns! In all kinds of shapes and designs! I can see it now ... something with lots of tulle incorporated. Instead of Vera Wang, okay no not gonna go to the tacky pun land of no return.

If you thought this was funny, you should totally check out Unapologetically Female. She's been doing a series about her "Anti-feminist childhood". So far there's 3, and I can especially relate to her posts about sexism in video games and movies.

She writes about Street Fighter :
I didn't know the word "infantilizing" as a kid, but I had enough of an awareness of how women aren't taken seriously to be incredibly annoyed every time my favorite character transformed from super bad-ass to giggly schoolgirl at the end of a match.
YES I know what you mean! And don't get me started on movies. I just watched Slumdog Millionaire the other day and it annoyed me so much because it's the same basic centuries old plot of boy (hero) rescues girl. Ugh. Ugh ugh ugh. It makes me want to become a film maker and be different. Except I don't know a thing about film making and I don't think vlogs count.
These posts were so inspiring! I wish feminist bloggers would be more comment friendly though. I leave a comment and never get replies back! They need to learn from Fashion bloggers eh eh???

Indoctrination

The other day, I learned that Ni Hao or 你 好 does not just mean 'Hello'.
Here's how the sorry tale went down.
A (Chinese) insurance agent named Lili calls.

*ring ring*
Me : Hello?
Her : blah blah blah intro ... 你 好.
Me : *Thinks to self* Already greeted her. Wait for next sentence.
Her : SILENCE ...
Her : 你 好.
Me : Silence. *Thinks* Why does she keep saying hello? I heard her the first time.
She eventually gets over her stuttering problem and starts talking about car stuff.

Later ...
Mom (who has been evesdropping) : YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO TALK, YOU'RE SO RUDE!

Apparently Ni Hao also means 'How are you'. As in, a question. I swear I knew that. Just forgot. I thought of this little anecdote becuz I wrote the words on my glasses in Sharpie.

Communist Daughter. part uno.

HI. My life is a gigantic ball of stress right now. I need to swim in a pool of stress-relieving squishers (u know, those things you squeeze when you can't take the pressure) akin to the ball pit at McDonalds, which! by the way, I've never been in. I know, so deprived.
Here's a painting I did a while ago when I was feeling angsty and 'Anti-Establishment'.

Red Sparrow

I'm applying for an internship at Etsy, and it would be a lie to say that I don't care whether I get it or not. Truth is, I want this so bad I can't sleep. This coming from someone who has no problem falling asleep at 9 or 10 every night!

Insomnia.
Hi.
Sorry if I'm a bit slow on the uptake with all things blog and communication related. I just need to get this done in the next few days.
Thanks for the sweet words about my video. Ego booster Yes! I'm glad I didn't come across as a major turd. Wow, fourth grade vocabulary much?

It worked! Now you can hear me lovely voice talking about why TopShop opening sucked.

Yay for Diane & Rachel.
My email is on the left hand side under the plump chicken!

I don't know if Vimeo is going through a bad day or something, but this took a whole day on Vimeo and still didn't work, but uploaded onto youtube in 10 minutes!

PS - I'm glad I'm not the only one to say 'vee' log. Vlog just sounds like you're about to barf something up. (Take that Diana!)

Vimeo is so slow when you're not a paying member!

I really want to post the video already! I think there might be a 'bug' cuz I went on the forums and a few people have the same issue. *sigh* Hopefully I can put it up either tonight or tomorrow. Also, I just realized something. Throughout the video, I kept calling a vlog, a vee-log. Hope that doesn't get annoying. Vlog (pronounced like blog) just doesn't roll off the tongue smoothly!

I am so loving Arvida's tee shirt by the way ... I would totally buy it if it were half priced. Makes me want to create my own t-shirt art, but I don't know how to screen print. Assuming you all read Tavi's blog, which of the 3 t-shirts would you buy if you had an extra $35 drop out of heaven into your lap? Spacegirl, Russian boy, or lace print?

The weather was nice so I re-took some pics for etsy.
