What's that phrase that Velma always says, Zinkies or Jinkies?

In this age of manufactured and painfully earnest talent contests, we’ve decided to instead shine a light on the quirky, quixotic underworld of musicians that don’t get nearly the attention they deserve.

Like a songwriting version of Iron Chef, the competitors will be presented with a very specific songwriting challenge. They’ll be given one week to complete their songs ... after which time the entries will be uploaded to Quick Stop to be voted on by you, the audience.

Oh, and what do we call this competition?

MASTERS OF SONG FU

video:

Lyrics:

Oh I've got...
No job, no money, no health insurance
No friends, no fun, no reassurance
No skills, no talent, no expertise
No girl, no love, no sweet relief
I've got zero of everything,
I guess I'm just a loser

No aches, no pains, no injuries
No AIDS, no Sars, or any disease
No violence and no obscenity
No loss, no doubt, no insecurity
I've got zero of everything,
and I've got zero problems

No hopes, no dreams, no stress, no fear.
No reason to smile or shed a tear.
No chances and no possibilities
No parity for me, no uncertainty.
You can't get a plus, without a minus
So why not just take zero.

Why this song is personally relevant:

I was in fifth grade and very very quiet in class. One day as part of a lesson everyone was assigned a piece of paper with a number on it. We would stand in front of the class holding these numbers and get shuffled around. My teacher, being the well-meaning though easily annoyed soul that she was, assigned me the number 0. She explained and demonstrated to the class that even though the number 0 seems like it's not important, it's actually very important because when added to the end (or middle) of other numbers, it increases their value by tens, hundreds, etc.

The moral of the story kids is that even if someone seems to be un-important and a big nothing because she doesn't talk, she has magical transformative powers within.

Good job Peter. I will be voting shortly. Done!

(He's entering the song in the contest. Check it out here.)
